A Guide to HVAC: The different systems used for HVAC

HVAC systems are an essential part of any building. They provide the right amount of heat, air conditioning, and humidity to keep people comfortable. HVAC systems are also important for the environment as they help reduce energy consumption. These systems are usually installed in the ceiling, walls, or floor of a building. They can be either ducted or unducted. Ducted systems use ducts to distribute the conditioned air throughout the building, and non-ducted systems use fans to circulate the air.

The components of an HVAC system include:

  • Air Handling Unit
  • Furnace or Boiler
  • Air Conditioning Unit
  • Humidifier or Dehumidifier
  • Air Filter

The different systems for HVAC can be split into two categories: heating and cooling.

Split systems are the most popular type of HVAC system. They work by sending cool air from the air conditioning unit to the supply registers in your home. The hot air is then sent up to the ceiling or through a floor or wall register and out into the attic or crawl space. From there, it’s either vented outside or recirculated back into your home via a return duct.

Hybrid systems are also heating and cooling systems, but they don’t require ducts to be installed in your home like a split system does. Instead, they use an outdoor condenser unit that blows hot air through an indoor coil that has cold water running through it to cool it down before sending it back outside again.

Ductless systems are a type of heating system that does not use ducts to distribute air. These systems can be used in new construction or as an upgrade to an existing system. They are also more cost-effective than traditional ducted heating systems, which require significant installation and maintenance costs.

Packaged heating and air systems are a great solution for homes that don't have ductwork. They can be installed in just a few hours, and they come with everything you need to get the job done. Not only do they provide heating and cooling, but they also offer humidity control, which is perfect for those who live in areas where the humidity levels fluctuate during different times of the year.

In addition to looking for a good HVAC company, you should also make sure to ask about the service plans offered by them and make sure that you understand how much it will cost to maintain your system over time.

In conclusion, a HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system is a very important component of a healthy, comfortable, and energy-efficient building.
